ABOUT OUR BUSINESS
The Brazilian company WaKa Serviços de Investimentos Florestais Ltda. was founded in 2009 and is part of the Swiss group WaKa – Forest Investment Services AG, an international forestry consultancy with associates based in Switzerland. "WaKa" comes from the abbreviation "Wald ist Kapital," which means "Forest is Capital" in German language. The execution of services by WaKa Brasil has been supported for several years by the management of the international consulting group, gaining experience in providing services to its clients: institutional and private investors, development banks and pension funds, development support and international technical cooperation organizations, other consulting firms, forest management organizations, forest owners, and projects, as well as forest management companies.
WaKa monitors forest product markets by internally developing price indices for forest commodities, supporting our expertise in serving clients.
Service History
WaKa has contributed in various countries to policy reviews, forest law revisions, forest sector reforms, institutional and professional capacity building, implementation of forest monitoring systems and timber traceability systems, digitization of inspection and environmental licensing systems.
In Brazil, WaKa provides a comprehensive range of professional forestry engineering services, including feasibility studies with arbitrary technical opinions, preparation for forest certification processes under the FSC green label for sustainable management and its chain of custody, projects for the recovery of degraded areas, activities in support of small producers in environmental regularization processes, management plans for Conservation Units, and forest inventories in support of licensing processes. WaKa has also worked on feasibility studies for forest investments, strategic and operational planning of forest enterprises, valuation of biological assets.
