ABOUT OUR BUSINESS
The Brazilian company WaKa Serviços de Investimentos Florestais Ltda. was founded in 2009 and is part of the Swiss group WaKa – Forest Investment Services AG, an international forestry consultancy with associates based in Switzerland. "WaKa" comes from the abbreviation "Wald ist Kapital," which means "Forest is Capital" in German language. The execution of services by WaKa Brasil has been supported for several years by the management of the international consulting group, gaining experience in providing services to its clients: institutional and private investors, development banks and pension funds, development support and international technical cooperation organizations, other consulting firms, forest management organizations, forest owners, and projects, as well as forest management companies.
Service History
WaKa Brasil provides technical support for initiatives in planning, analysis, and implementation within the forestry and environmental sectors, including feasibility studies, environmental licensing, and decision-making support for land-use projects and forestry investments.
In Brazil, it develops technical analyses for forestry projects, including support in public procurement processes such as bidding and contracting.
Its scope of work includes FSC-certified forest management and chain of custody, restoration of degraded areas, support for environmental regularization of small landholders, management plans for protected areas, and forest inventories for environmental licensing purposes.
Founder’s previous experience
The founder’s experience includes work with the FAO, contributing to forest policy review processes, forestry sector reforms, and updates to environmental legislation, as well as institutional capacity building and the development of environmental monitoring and governance systems.
